When I first joined the journalism program, I joined as a budding writer, excited to craft stories and share news with my school. I truly didn’t realize how much it would change my perspective of my community and teach me about the power of storytelling. My goal is to continue sharing narratives that matter, especially those that might otherwise go unnoticed. Through my work, I hope to help people understand and see each other more clearly. My belief used to be that everyone has a story, and it’s my job to tell it. Now, as an editor and experienced reporter, I still believe that everyone has a story, but it’s also my job to guide the next generation of reporters to love telling these stories just as much as I do. I joined journalism to share interesting news, but I’ve extended beyond that to share narratives and to guide other reporters to do the same. As a journalist, I hope to foster more empathy and understanding within our school and global community.
